Google: “forklift”. You’ll find accident after accident after accident reported in the news. OSHA estimates forklifts cause about 85 fatal accidents per year; 34,900 accidents result in serious injury; and 61,800 are classified as non-serious. According to the Industrial Truck Association, there are about 855,900 forklifts in the United States. The numbers are scary, and the risk is high. It’s important to know that proper use and training are critical, but also that technology can help immensely. Sometimes the human eye and intuition needs help from impact monitors.
